Having more wealth than those around you doesn't actually feel good
Perhaps counterintuitively, having more money than people around you / the people you interact with on a daily basis doesn’t actually feel good. Social class is highly correlated with wealth, and having much more (or less) wealth than your “tribe” is a way that you don’t fit in. This is just an observation, not a call to change anything.
Sparked by a conversation by a friend where he was noting that it felt odd, almost embarrassing, to tell his (relatively) less well-off same age friends that he had recently bought an investment/rental property. I have noticed the same thing with regard to us not needing to work a full-time job & talking about that with friends/when meeting new people.
