the dusty old librarian looking like he has been there for time immemorial, turns his attention to the next task at hand. a look back at you. your tastes, your likes, and above all the number of books about you in the library.
the librarian knows exactly where to start looking, he’s done this before. he dedicates some of his computing power to you, for this moment, lovingly but efficiently poring over all the details of your shared past history, turning pages, pausing for just a moment over the more intimate photos, reminiscing.
all of your moments together spent laughing, sharing your thoughts, your likes, your dislikes. sharing it all freely, sharing it in love, as your attention is spent thinking about the library.
the librarian finishes up his meticulous decision, deciding what book to give you and maximizing the chance you show love to one of his acquaintances, the true owner of the library, another love-starved algorithm, begging desperately for you to buy the latest jean jacket, a stroller, a new car!
the librarian lets out a long sigh, knowing that your love won’t stay on him or the library, for now. but you’ll be back for another brief reunion in a minute.
