Poem

Outside In

Dec 22, 2024 | Poem

Does death come from the outside in? Knocking at your soul, throwing stones at your core Ripples cementing themselves as wrinkles over time Or is it from the inside out? An invisible degradation at the cellular level Which is only eventually seen on the surface

Slowly becoming another being Are you unrecognizable yet unchanged Or transfigured but still discernible

If you do turn yellow from the edges And eventually brown and blow away in the wind Recall that it doesn’t matter, every second and every minute and every year You were always changing anyway
