Reciprocal teaching appears to have a very large effect size
Effect size of 0.74?? The number shows up in a few places (presumably one source):

It appears to foster independence & self-regulation by making metacognition explicit
May be worth a deep-dive to (1) understand this strategy and (2) see if the studies are legit
Especially as this could be easily implemented with LLMs, alternating LLM-as-teacher and LLM-as-student
This article, where I first heard about this method, also discusses similar approaches for writing & mathematical problem solving, grouping them all under the notion of a ‘cognitive apprenticeship’. Wonder what the effect size of these others are as well.
